Project Red Dot

For millions of girls across India, getting their period means missing school, facing stigma, and going without the basic products and information they need. Project Red Dot is about changing that, one cycle at a time, by putting menstrual hygiene and honest education directly into the hands of girls who need it.

The Reality
Menstruation is still surrounded by silence and shame. Studies across India have found that nearly half of adolescent girls are unaware of menstruation before their first period, leaving many frightened and unprepared. Many miss school during their period, and a large number report feeling embarrassed, anxious, or held back by restrictions and misinformation. Behind these numbers are girls whose confidence, education, and dignity are quietly eroded every month.

What This Campaign Will Do
By raising ₹30,000, Project Red Dot combines practical support with education:
• ₹25,000 toward menstrual hygiene kits, so girls have access to safe, essential period products
• ₹5,000 toward educational materials, booklets and awareness pamphlets used in menstrual health workshops

Together, this aims to reach over 100 adolescent girls and women with both the products and the knowledge they need.

Why Our Approach Works
Many initiatives focus only on handing out products. We believe lasting change needs both access and awareness. Alongside the hygiene kits, we run workshops that give girls accurate information about menstrual and reproductive health, nutrition, and the myths that fuel stigma. As a youth-led campaign designed and run by young women who understand these challenges firsthand, we can create relatable, open conversations, so the impact lasts long after the campaign ends.

The Broader Impact
The change reaches beyond the girls who receive kits. Parents, teachers, caregivers, and peers gain accurate knowledge and become part of a more supportive environment. As stigma fades and open conversation grows, schools and communities benefit from better attendance, participation, and wellbeing among adolescent girls.

Girl Up Rooh is a youth-led organization committed to gender equality and empowering girls through education, advocacy, and access to essential resources. We believe menstrual health is not just a health issue, it is a matter of dignity, confidence, and equal opportunity. Too many girls still face stigma, misinformation, and limited access to menstrual products, and it affects their education and wellbeing. Through Project Red Dot, we want to help change that.

This campaign is hosted on Udayaa Impact Foundation, a registered Section 8 nonprofit in India supporting student-led social impact initiatives.

• are securely processed through the Udayaa platform
• require verified donor accounts for transparency
• qualify for 50% tax benefits for eligible donors
