How we’ll use this fund
Supporting 18 children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Global Developmental Delays Campaign covers one month of transportation costs so children can attend 3 therapy sessions per week at Saamarthya Foundation Families are daily wage workers or house help, unable to afford travel for therapy Sessions include speech, motor, and cognitive therapies led by trained special educators and occupational therapists Parents participate through Saamarthya’s Open Door Policy, learning strategies to reinforce therapy at home and in school

My name is Tanya Shizan, and I'm from Hyderabad India. I study Health Informatics and over the past few years I have consistently studied barriers to accessing care across health systems worldwide. One barrier shows up again and again: transportation.

Even when therapy is free, many children are still unable to benefit because of transportation insecurity. For families who rely on daily wages or housework, the cost of travel can mean the difference between a child receiving therapy or missing out on the chance to thrive.

Another reason I am committed to Sobati is because it is strategic. Saamarthya Foundation, led by Dr. Shivani, has operated as a trusted nonprofit for years. Sobati supports their new public–private partnership with Anganwadis, a government initiative that brings early childhood care into underserved communities. This collaboration strengthens both families and institutions.

The Problem

1 in 8 children in India (11.4 percent) live with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism, CP, and GDD.
1 in 68 children are on the Autism spectrum.
Families face limited awareness, scarce resources, and systemic complexity.
Even when identified, most children never receive regular therapy.

Without intervention, their potential risks being overlooked or delayed forever.

Our Solution: The Sobati Project

The Sobati Project at Saamarthya Foundation exists to bridge this gap.

Saamarthya does not just provide therapies. We walk alongside families, guiding them through assessments, connecting them with the right resources, and empowering them to navigate healthcare and education systems.

Sobati ensures that a child’s growth is nurtured not just in therapy, but at home, in school, and within their community.

At Saamarthya, every therapy session is free. But for many families, the greatest barrier is not therapy itself, it is getting there. By covering travel, Sobati guarantees consistent care, holistic support, and a pathway to thrive.

The Bigger Picture

Sobati goes beyond these 18 children. With donor support, we can:

  • Reach more children early across other Anganwadis in Pune and beyond

  • Train caregivers and teachers to deliver sustainable, community-based support

  • Empower families at scale with tools to reinforce therapy at home

  • Develop a replicable model for other NGOs and local governments across India

Sobati is about building an ecosystem of early intervention, family empowerment, and community inclusion.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Your contribution does not just fund travel. It fuels futures.

  • ₹250 = access to one therapy session

  • ₹3,000 = one child’s therapy access for a month

  • ₹12,000+ = four children supported for a month, impact multiplied

With Sobati, we offer more than therapy. We offer hope, access, and a path forward. Together, we can ensure no child is left behind simply because their family cannot afford the journey.
