My name is Karan Agarwal, I’m 16 years old, and I study at Oakridge International School in Hyderabad. I’ve trained under Coach Peter and know firsthand how much he pours into his players, not just to shape their game, but to shape their lives.
To me and to many others, football has always been about more than what happens on the field. It’s about showing up every day, learning discipline, building resilience, and growing in a community where we push each other to be better.
That’s why I’m launching this campaign. To make sure future players have a safe, clean, and functional place to train.
Problem
India has one of the lowest per-capita sports investments in the world—just ₹2.5 per person annually (2023), compared to over ₹1,500 in countries like the UK. At the grassroots level, families are often forced to choose between education and basic survival.
Even among India’s elite athletes, more than half come from families earning less than ₹3,00,000/year. Scholarships rarely cover books, uniforms, or transportation. In this environment, even ₹500 can decide whether a young athlete stays in school.
At Grassroots Football Academy (GRFA), 12 players from disadvantaged backgrounds train full-time. But while training, housing, and food are provided free of charge, their education is at risk.
Our Solution
This campaign raises ₹49,200 to fund one full year of ground and gym maintenance at Grassroots Football Academy.
That includes:
Regular upkeep of the football ground (surface leveling, turf repair, cleaning)
Maintenance of basic gym equipment and training zones
Safe, injury-minimizing training conditions year-round
This isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. A safe, high-quality training environment directly impacts player development, injury prevention, and confidence.
Who You’re Supporting
12 players currently train full-time at GRFA. They include:
Amar, Aziz, and Orlan (16) – from Manipur
Joshua, Subash, and Ramakant (16) – from Telangana
Sai (18) – from Nizamabad District, Telangana
Hema and Chinnu (20) – from Hyderabad and Goa
Marco and Tej (21) – from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh
Rishab (22) – also from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh
All of them are enrolled in school or college while training full-time. They are not just players—they’re students, teammates, and future leaders.
Why This Works
Direct, local impact – 100% of funds go to maintaining the training ground and gym used every day by players
Sustainable model – GRFA offers free training, food, and lodging to youth from under-resourced communities
Player-led initiative – This campaign is built by someone who trained at GRFA and understands what’s needed most
Football is the most popular sport in the world, but in India it is still a privilege. Talent shouldn’t be limited by income, geography, or access.
This campaign isn’t just about one year of school fees.
It’s the first step toward building a long-term, sustainable support system for Coach Peter’s Grassroots Football Academy.
The work he’s doing—training, feeding, and mentoring underserved players—deserves awareness, recognition, and backing.
Your donation helps lay the foundation. Not just for 12 students, but for the future of grassroots sport in India.
